Rubber tires chase broken
white lines, vehicles ripping
by in a windfall of rush
highway a bumper-crowd
of speeding on hwy 401
how else to make it to
Hamilton in time for
spaghetti supper at 5 pm?
From Kingston to Napanee
past flocks of V-flappers,
and horses with sun-dripped
manes, grazing on early shoots
of greening, zipping past
white fences and glitzy homes.
Gassing up at the Esso restaurant
window peekers easily see
I am still a praying passenger.
