Falling through sky --
I am Red Cardinal

I leap and flit
one branch to another

snow clumps allow
my feet to land softly

willow branches brush
my wings.

I am fire --
a red delight.

Thank you so much, SE. I knew a Steve Elliott in Sarnia, Ontario. He also wrote poetry. I had never seen a Red Cardinal bird before, since this pair moved into the neighbourhood, a rare sight indeed. Richard LP
