A Restful Pause

Tumbling backwards
from sitting on a fallen
bough allows me
to quickly contemplate
the possibility of a
harsh arrest
and I do land with
a forceful thump
thankfully only
my hand feels the
prick of pain
from a wayward root.
As I lay fully
stretched
blue above sifts through
layers of autumn
and trembling aspen
twirl their leaves in
a dance for me.
