Riding High

along ridges of worn

and battered asphalt

Camden Village

is a showcase of homes

seeming lost

in scattered disarray

‘cause tourists

no longer come this way--

to photo a bridge

or watch ducks float

on the creek

nor breathe in history

from older days.

See deer troop

to the stream below--

watch in wonder

with a childhood thrill.

Strangers may

feel a need to escape

this simple life--

I choose not to follow.
