Ripples of Stream

is more than diamond

glitter which creates

a glint of romance

(as between two lovers

who feel a connection)

the kind of gleam

that attracts romance

and beneath

a brocade of gurgles

golden streaks

from sun above-

nightfall mutes

the glitz & sounds

but not the soothing

that weaves

throughout the land.

I wrote this poem re: the Salmon River, an oversized stream meandering through parts of Truro, Nova Scotia. I watched its natural glitter that escaped the destruction - thousands of trees all around me, from a terrible storm which left us several days ago. It was the worst ecological rain & wind storm ever felt over our province. ALL Truro stores, restaurants & 100 acre park in a catchment area of 25,000 people, had no electricity for up to  eight nights. No one injured although huge and smaller trees covered roads including broken power poles in the dozens. Phew - that stream of faith ie Salmon River inspired me. -Richard LP.

I hadn't heard of your bad storm, Richard. Glad you are over it and coped.

I liked the brief refernece to the lovely sound of the ripples at the end, when night hides the glints. Rhiannon
