A toboggan of
leaves gather on the hillside
of my second floor
balcony

scuttling back and forth
from an historic
storm-front
Sandy by name
vicious in its intent --

other maple cast offs
join the encounter
free to choose the landing
of their downfall –

sometimes they
have different sleeps.
