Sleep Gently
Sleep gently while moon’s
brightness is a swath
of glow across branches
with whispers on
our tent
enhancing the glow
of water
like diamond-glitter upon the
bay its shine watchful
as owls alight
other birds asleep
and soundless in the night.
Sleep gently
partridge and ducks
even frogs in the sloughs
among a scatter
of ducks
frost asleep
and coyotes singing
under a tired sky.
