Some Came Calling

Hugh has limbs at risk, MS
tightening the knot
of helplessness but not
his spirit, face full of smiles
stubborn along the path--
Greg a limping soul steps
crookedly, back straight
as a telephone pole
flew through a windshield
at 90 kms, the tree a
thorn in his way
determined, one step
at a time--
Dave a man of few words
s-slow since birth
challenged they say, but he’s
a breath from finishing
his latest chore, window clean
no laziness in his bones--
Laura Lee the Evangelist
loves the Lord some surmise,
perhaps a prayer for you
arms uplifted, praising
His Name at Sunday service--
And Charlie a boy of ten with
friends this day, an
arm missing at the elbow
deformed, not useless
as his bat swing proves.
These are children of the
King, who watches from nearer
than we think---Hugh, Greg
Dave, Laura Lee, little Charlie
loved by our wonderful King.
