Some Kind of Reason

I set fire upon
the sidewalk
a great raise of heat
threatening to burn
the city where evil grows
and dreams lost before
beginning

yet within that morass
of failings
a chance exists for success --

two lovers begin anew
friends forgotten
their eyes only for each other.
