Speckles and Friends

He awoke suddenly. Surely his
friends were not here already. It
was still dark but he could easily
see them as a flash of morning
topping the hills far away.
He burst through the shadows
of sheltering spruce at the edge of
a small valley.
Now he could feel the warmer
air on his rusty coloured baby body.
And the many splashes of all-over
white dots is why friends called him
“Speckles.”
There was Smelly waiting
patiently.
His white stripe on a black body
seemed to flow in the wind.
Everyone held their noses around
him.
Sky brought her beautiful
baby-blue colours from above.
Then a large dog joined everyone. His name was Drooley
and he now had a family.
A crow was the last to come.
His constant serenade of Caw-Caw
became a most precious name. The
seemingly harsh voice of this
creature shared joy and vitality
among all.
Now they were ready for today’s
hike in the forest:
Drooley jumped to his feet
Smelly wobbled quickly trying
to be first
Caw-Caw was anxious to begin.
Speckles said, “OK let’s get going.”
And they were off.

Quite a gang. I hope that
Quite a gang. I hope that after you described them so well they enjoyed their adventure and that we'll be able to read about it soon.
