The Sun

is sly as a morning peek
schemes across a sheltered peak
and within the valley
sunbeams embrace rivulets
of fresh water.
Towering pines covet
the sway of wind
within the tune of summer’s
intrusion--
a stand of aspen
alert to dappled deer
who linger under brightness
ever glowing
as momma enjoys
a peaceful moment nearby.
