colour the innocence
of its victims –

sides of buildings
box car sentinels on tracks
postal bins alert for envelopes
too often
with an image overdose
the victim often not amused
while the perpetrator exudes ecstasy in
creative moments --

a sustaining of one’s will and
jealousy to protect
the fruit of attainment.

In the end
weather and other taggers overcome
those fine artifacts
with a vision of their own
and we are left with blurring
messages convoluted
an offering to a time when youth

act like knights in the streets and alley
ways in territorial disputes.
