Tags Are Cool

yet colour innocent victims
masquerading as community gifts
attached to
sides of brick buildings
boxcars on tracks
even postal bins alert for mail --

too often
an image overdose

the victims not really amused
while perps glory in
their creative moments.

In the end
weather and other taggers overcome
these fine artifacts
with a vision of their own
leaving us with a convoluted
blurring of messages
an offering to a time from those

soldiers in the ‘hood who
claim these alleys
and byways as their domain.
