There is No End

to a cold plate of snow

its embankments

as passions unbridled  

beneath

pillowed-clouds

 

awaiting a second assault

of furious intentions

and prepare we

do for a scent of winter

more to come.

I would say it's really a bit early Richard! Well, on that side, make the most enjoy the summer! This poem also makes me think of Narnia there it was always winter.

Hi Tom, snow overwhelmed New Brunswick last week and we caught an inch last night with much more to possibly follow  But praise the fifteen mm of moisture that chased away the snow. Is the virus causing much turmoil as in Canada? Your comments are always appreciated, on my writing.

Apart from the lockdown I personally have been little affected by the pandemic directly as yet. Can't say even that I know anyone who has the virus. Some people just laugh it off people were already desperate as it was. Although the streets and shops are more quiet than usual it is not deserted.

One thing though I get the idea it is impossible to get reliable information anywhere. Specifically regarding numbers in general i.e statistics.

Of course most businesses are closed. I don't smoke anymore myself more than five years but I think it is most unwise and a serious mistake to prohibit selling of tobacco and cigarettes, I also feel it is hypocritical and extremely selfish. Can't just tell a guy "sorry no smokes your problem". With alcohol maybe could be.

Our country South-Africa and the government are doing very well in strong and fair leadership. These are testing times.

And, yes I do like your writing Richard!

Obviously it wasn't planned like this but I'll tell you what: If the president relaxes the regulations on the sale of tobacco products during the current state of emergency he will be one very popular man. He would score a few points there forsure. Best is it's without cost, in fact, to the contrary. It would generate sorely needed currency.

Thank you Tom for reading and enjoying the story-poems I write. I no longer submit my poetry to commercial outlets,and post everything on ABC. At first I thought the quality of writing may not be tops, but it is. There are many excellent writers on this site and I cannot thank enough the owners of this site for publishing my work. ps. pray that the corunavirus does not come to your town -- it is devastating. MANY persons have gone from full health to death. 600 senior facilities in Canada have been ravaged and the infection jumps from one person to another at will. Our imperative ORDERS is wash hands frequently, do not touch face and stay at least SIX FEET away from anyone on street or if caught by patrolling police, a one thousand fine. All schools are shut down in most of Canada, most businesses, all municipal businesses and all parks, etc. So pray, my friend. As you can see, I love to write.

Hello Nolan, thank you for your kind I had many Kindle self-produced books on Amazon.com for five years but not many sales. I made around $30 total. I decided to send to anyone who wished to read one of my ten novels for various ages at no charge. I would rather share my work with everyone now rather than the 25-30 who bought a book.

I agree, wholeheartedly. You're talking about self-publishing? The first thing is you must accept that you're not going to make money out of it. You cannot become rich with poetry in any case it has never been done. Occasionally some poets have managed to make a living out of it. Lyrics yes. Poetry is written mostly for self-fulfilment. It's its own reward &

By the way Richard, are there limits on comments too? What about age restrictions! ;-)
