special in the air. Listen
I hear it – the sound
of a heartbeat. Mine.
Just a few minutes ago
the bike was fine
covering kms. on the trail
sun on my face
wind at my back
a prayer of thanks
on my tongue.
The day could not
be better for
any cyclist – then I fell
shoulder hitting
the well packed ground.
As I lay there
grimacing in silence
I asked my Jesus
to take away the
pain. And he did so.

As Penny4athought says, you
As Penny4athought says, you describe so effectively the shock of the tumble, and the pain, and the instinctive response of the believer of thankfulness for life spared, and then the awareness of need of help in the pain.
