sure look nice I say
from my boyfriend she backs to me
tossing her head
with a smile
slender shoulders carry
one strap loose
not enough meat on her bones
I think.
A snake tattoo moves along
the dip of her hips
gift for my boyfriend
she whispers --
everyone calls him snake.
I know she’s been around the map
everyone says so
got a couple of kids
and only nineteen to boot
but that ain’t all
got it hard for her boyfriend --
they call him snake.

Interesting poem, which
Interesting poem, which comes across to me as an observational piece, with a certain sympathy behind it. I loved the wording of the third stanza.
