Twister

Like a monster lawnmower
you descend without
mercy,
a relentless wind
striking every monument
to credit card desires
cars, trailers and swimming pools
launched into space
from your diverging thermals
hot, cold fronts meeting
as boxers without personal rules
roof tops, grass
and trimmed trees
torn from earth’s succor,
feeling your pain
surely you cannot blame this
peopled-town for the temperature
inversions which caress
your name.
