Two Mourning Doves

wiggle for space on the
saucer-sized feeder hung
from an iron hook
chiseled heads a-bobbing
pastel brown coloured
bodies with a hint
of black speckles
beaks pecking at each other
in hungry movements
feathered bodies shifting
for balance as they
negotiate food ownership
about corn particles lightly
sprinkled on the feeder
after some jostling and a
blinking-eye discussion
problem solved as they
decide to share in the feast.
