The Washing

of dishes is more like
a little sprint
with giggles on the side

a foothold in communicating
the way to help
another in the chores
of life

overcoming the cliff to
asunder below.

At first two children
bicker and spite
then to parent’s delight

work themselves into a team
ensuring dishes are done
and dried
and placed in positions
of good standing.
