she asks---as she bends
to plug in the electric heater
hubby’s old task.
He should be coming
about now she
thinks absent-mindedly moving
the funeral urn –
she sits
on the edge of her dreams
when both of them
counted stars
from their backyard
now she clutches
her Bible closes her eyes
and blows a big kiss
before sleep
captures her spirit.
