The Wonder of it All

She steps into the
coffee shop
into the life of its patrons
joins a line up
double-double she asks --

not afraid to pay the price
lady from the other side of town
high end skirt flashing
dainty legs dancin’
shoes from the very best
down the block

not minding glares nor stares
from a few spending
days absorbed in the bustle
of folks rushing for a fix -- in
and out. Coffee in hand

Tim Horton’s sign outside
the shop blazing
in the warmth of sun.
