The Wood Toboggan

The Wood Toboggan

is an instrument

of good will-

it sits firmly on

the snow amid cheers

from others

sharing this hill

sliding slowly down.

As it gathers speed

avoids a shrub

& a pine tree just ahead

speed accelerates

in a meandering sway

crushes a top-side

nudge of snow

swings to the left

to avoid a hunk of rock.

Snow flies

birds create music

and eyes filled

with chill from that last

shivering bump-

a trip of pure delight

from top of hill

to sunbursts 

below – just perfect

for a daughter and dad.
