To condescend.

 

I never mean

To patronise

To judge, find fault

Or criticise.

 

And if that happens,

Don’t you know

When you’re upset

Very neatly written, and making an apt point for pondering. If the offense is unintentional, it will normally be clear, whether the taking of offense be from misjudgement or oversensitivity of the hearer, or carelessness of thought and speech of the speaker. But sometimes a hearer can be insensitive to the speaker's 'innocence of intention', or even wanting to twist words into an offense.  Rhiannon
