'Ahoy there, ye scurvy dogs!'
hailed Cap'n Dali
from the giant France,
'Prepare to be segued!'
Two mules
yoked to some yellow
were the first to board,
bibles for hooves and the smell
of Sunday exhalting their grins.
Quail's eggs brittled
from the gunwales
and every book
went back in time by five minutes.
Seven seas sloshed like cocktails
behind the Captain's pupils.
'Many a much leads to the last villa,'
he told his cotton sandwich,
swarthy as hell.
