this space must fall unto silence again,

a simple truth,

because there are no words to frame such pain,

no sentiments, that here, can long remain

as we must do,

this space must fall unto silence again,

and pause that comes to pass as harsh refrain,

remembers you,

because there are no words to frame such pain,

and gathered here, we praise this place you made,

and see it proof,

this space must fall unto silence again,

as sun doth set to mark the close of day,

 

you leave us too,

 

because there are no words to frame such pain,

we burn silent witness, our hearts aflame,

in time, to cool,

this space must fall unto silence again,

because there are no words

Love this - and would love to see you perform it. Is it a villanelle? It's a *long* time since I studied any poetic form - I tend to just go with the flow and maybe play with syllable count to shape things a little - but the repetition is so powerful here.

Yes, it is a *sort of* villanelle, one of my favourite forms, especially for subject matter like this.. Nice to link up over here too. Will have a think about events/projects for the next edition of CIADISH, thanks.
