Legal Abduction

A hairline fracture
runs through my heart
Threatening to split
it in two
The muscle feels as
if it's falling apart
And the only cure is
you
I look at images
from my past
Moments frozen in
time and encased in glass
Beautiful family
portraits smiling from a mountains path
I relish in the
thought that the joy will forever last
Then dark clouds
roll in as the gavel drops down
A secret amendment
signed by a devil in black gown
I look back at the
portrait of that fun family day
But now my youngest
child is fading away
As the storm builds
and rain pours down
I plant down my feet
and firmly stand my ground
I step out into the
swirling unknown
To fight this ruling
as hard as I can go
As this fracture
splits deeper into my heart
I will never give
up, no, I never will part
With that little
girl who shines so bright
Until I have her
back at home, I'll forever fight
