on improving American health care

Here are a few suggestions on how we might address the political question of health care in American today. Every citizen ultimately needs health care, and the last administration expanded coverage in a historic manner, extending medical care to more Americans than had ever been covered before. Democrats continue to stand for the A.C.A. and health care as a human right but the Republicans having come to the majority in the last election, there must be a response to those who view the current expenses as being too high. Doctors, for example, are very expensive: We can re-tool nurses and nurse-practitioners to help patients almost as effectively...
Where there are more patients than can be attended to by doctors, we can empower and up-authorize nurses.
Moving on, we should empower patients and reform hospitals because right now they are often fear factories... Mere fear often doesn't help people recover, but survival ability is strong... so people cycle through the hospitals.. being degraded and racking up hefty bills, often for the tax-payer. We should see if different approaches to medicine could help more patients recover, while making the whole process less dysfunctional.
To make matters worse, we have arrangements with the pharmaceutical industry where the American people are paying way more than citizens of other nations for the exact same drugs. Democrats will get behind these reforms if it's presented right: this can be a 'Win Win...'
Don't underestimate the intelligence of the citizenry or the power of the internet. Medical Encylopedias and the ability to use them effectively is now widespread. And patients often know what's needed to heal them, but simply don't have the authority to make that happen. Patients could profitably be heard with different ears, in many cases.
It's also essential that we slash red-tape and enable innovative doctors and nurses to find ways to heal more effectively and, critically, to manage costs. I remember a discussion I had with a hospital manager in which I advocated the use of aloe vera to treat burns etc.. He agreed with me but said although he was technically the hospital manager: everything was bound with red tape, and substantial changes were impossible. Change is needed!
Slash red tape... Entrust and empower nurses, doctors and patients, and reform this failing system to help patients more effectively!
