I came to him in pain and with shame
(he reminded me of birth, famine, and rain)
he was a neurologist by trade
(with a lively, quick way of seeing)
an inspection of my ailing body he made
(what a good and civilized way of being!)
Dragon's jewels he gallant forsook,
for not a penny from my mother he took.
bless the folk and soil that bore him
for saving this youth from a limb!
as long as Earth has people like him,
the green glow of her continents
shall never grow dim.
