"He who scatters the people delights in war" - The Holy Bible
Battles are fought, in one way or another, and political fortunes decided... with more or less finality. I shared with some Democrats the dream of restoring F.D.R.'s America... a nostalgic vision I to some extent inherited from my great-grandfather the Democratic congressman through my beloved grandmother Dorothy. Having this vision in mind, I supported and voted for Hillary Clinton.
However, I have little enough reason to fall on my sword, even were that the American tradition. I had a certain influence with the campaign but I was never called in to personally meet with the principles, set message and strategy etc... nor did I have the leadership role I enjoyed in the Sanders movement... Pompey falls on his sword... 'the curiosity rover...' roves on.
We haven't exactly been thriving under the status quo.... populism, change... these are good things. I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the President's work to take care of the poor and vulnerable, Michelle's inspiring and heart-felt speeches... and the contributions of the Clintons.
That said, whatever happens to me, this is a brave new global era, America's era... and the people made a good choice in Donald Trump, to whom this morning I sent an olive branch... who gave a magnanimous acceptance... whose social media statement is: "The forgotten man shall never be forgotten again." These words touched my heart.
President Obama has invited Trump to the White House... It remains my heart's desire to promote innovation, and to be of service to this great nation. I hope that I get the opportunity.... regardless that our nation continue our innovative and democratic Odyssey into a brave and golden new era... bravely aware of danger, but choosing hope and possibility.
