flat gratitude, not for granted
Thank-You Lord,
For showing me my place,
For illuminating my pain
In the presence of Your grace;
As I live amongst others’ strain.
Flat 16, 5 crammed in a one-bed.
Family in 27, 6 evictions this year,
Next on the way, they don’t have rent.
34, arguing like 25,
She threw his clothes out the way,
From the window to the pavement.
Thank-You Lord,
That I didn’t choose arguing too,
That I haven’t chosen their strain,
That I get it Lord, that I get You,
I’m grateful in my pain.
Flat 35, two suffering addicts,
He cleaned her out of everything.
Flat 1, so alone, it’s true.
Flat 17, he still has no work.
Flat 2, battling through,
A single mother of two.
Thank-You Lord,
That in my block, alone, in strife,
You show me You are here,
Proving You are the way for my life,
Looking after me, taking care.
Lord, please help them find
Faith, love and hope too…
Like the family in Flat 7,
Nothing to their name but You, and laughter;
And the youths in Flat 23,
When I walk past, I love feeling heaven.
Thank-You Lord,
For direct comparisons,
For showing me so obviously,
The impact of our decisions,
For loving us so graciously.
