Lord, this can’t be it

Lord, this can’t be it
Lord,
Surely there can’t be only one life
Surely You aren’t that small;
Surely Your powers are beyond this all
And death is not the final curtain call.
My start was so very late
And the funds always so short
All that time dreaming of so much more
All that effort to strut, fret and be heard no more?
I’ve only learnt two languages
Seldom truly sung, danced, or sent enough messages
Not enough time near the mountains and the sea
Surely this can’t just end in a freeze?
I’ve so many more poems to write
So many more photos to take
There’s too much to do, too much for one take
Can’t death be a mere ad break?
Children pass without having aged
Aged pass without having lived
Cancer, accidents, such quick departures
Some without experiencing laughter
Lord,
Surely there can’t only be one chance
When You plan everything in advance
So much effort in Your awesome creation I adore
Surely it can’t end without a round of applause…
