A Not-So-Busy Day

Busy men, lazy men!
Here, they repair their motorcycles.
There, they won’t even move a muscle.
The roosters that crow are even more diligent
Than the bored trees doing nothing but rustle.
The skins of the people go darker and darker,
As the sun grows hotter and hotter
And they keep on working harder and harder.
But, there are those who won’t agree
To work, think that they’re free,
And merely sit there talking pure baloney.
While my neighbor monotonously blasts my ears
And the sound of revving engines travel all the way here,
I won’t let these mere sounds hinder my tasks,
For a lazy person, I ought not to be,
And I want to bring out the best in me.
So as I go through the day,
Inside these doors, I choose to stay
And work as hard to prevent this day
From becoming
...
A not-so-busy day.
