Even in a Large Hall

I'd like my poems
to be precious
to here and there
touch a heart
I'd like to hold
my listener's hand
to dance a jig,
to talk of art
I'd like my poems
to be pleasant,
be recited in a
hundred years
I'd like them clear
and readable and--
even in a large hall--
to summon ears.
