the sheets, the shirts
the skirts and the blouses
stories minus endings
 
letters unwritten
books unread,
unfinished
 
garage doors 
never painted
puzzles unfigured
 
this thing we call life
a crazy game
of juggling plates –
must keep spinning
 
kitchen taps keep dripping
socks seeking darning
 
light bulbs beseeching  changing
along with the babies
 
yet still we marvel
still we notice
 
the double rainbows
the twit-two-wooing
of love-smitten tawnies
 
the smile of a stranger
we pass in the street
 
the eyes of a rabbit
transfixed by a headlamp
 
the super-moon
a partial eclipse
 
the grain of sand
in an oyster’s shell
sunlight through leaves
 
The stopping of a tolling
of a bell
 
life is only complete
in its incompleteness

Interestingly put, Tina. So easy to get distraught over loose ends, and to miss 'jobs' more important or just noticing some beauty, which you so well describe.

(on rainbows, we were thrilled a couple of days ago in seeing a bright wide 'pillar-rainbow' in front of us and the russet trees each side of the road suddenly glowing with caught sunlight against a dark cloud background' and the 'pillar' momentairly seemed flame-bright and rainbow-banded. We didn't have a camera, and by the time we'd stopped I expect it would have gone!

Rhiannon - thank you, so much, for sharing this almost 'once in a lifetime' experience.  Even if you had had a camera it still wouldn't have captured the magic of seeing it with your own eyes, and actually being there.  You described it wonderfully though and I would have given anything to have seen it.  Mind you, there are  a few beefy showers around today, and yet the sun is out amongst black clouds, so maybe a rainbow is on the cards, but I doubt an experience such as you had.
