The clocks didn’t stop...dogs 
insisted on barking; mobile phones 
continued to plague the hell out of commuters 
on the eight-thirty fast to Kings Cross;
 
in truth, you’d never had known
she’d gone, but for the trees
blaring into blossom...when
hoar frost still feathered
the vine
 
Never known she’d gone, but
for the silence of her piano...but for 
the tolling of a bell, as it rolled on through
a dismal, winter’s morn, begging she stay, just
one more day – 
 
never known she’d gone...at all.
 
And even He on the gate...the bouncer,
if you like, at that great portal to paradise
could not hold back the sure sweep of the tide 
and the heavens’ sweet sway.

After reading your books, I feel I know you so much better and recognize everything you've included in this poem.  It's wonderful.  I also wondered if you'd read the link to a friends Top 10 poems for World Poetry Day and were inspired by her choice of poems; the clocks, dogs barking and bells tolling...  I'm always interested in inspiration. Congrats on the well-deserved cherries, again!  :-)

Hello again, Frances...thank you so much for reading, and for sharing your thoughts.  It is more than appreciated....as was the link to your top 10 poems for World Poetry Day, I have looked at it briefly, but shall look at it more in depth, hopefully tomorrow.  Life gets in the way sometimes, of the things we want to do and those things we have to do.  It always means a great deal hearing from you, and is a bonus when it is in such a positive and constructive way.

... but as you say - life gets in the way (John Lennon too)! 

Had some heavy negatives to deal with over the last 18 months and still trying to make sense of it all, which meant I retreated into my batcave. Sorry.   I am trying to seek the sun again - in a positive way.
