Such a matter of fact run
Such a matter of fact run through of a life -(so far), without an apparent opinion, leaving the reader to decide how to feel about the events, joyful, sorrowful. Such a mixture, even though one event overpowers the rest. I felt a positive hopefulness in this, and a passing on of experience. For some reason, this bit stood out for me - '
'but only knitted in straight lines
Became a runner-up in Saturday’s
Telegraph Prize Crossword
Picked apricots fresh from the trees
along the banks of the Danube' -
I loved the glint of humour.
As it's a whole life (so far), there really is everything in this poem, and that's what it made me feel - everything.
