Close my eyes
and I can see you...
walking, barefoot,
amongst the dunes...
a distant hill
shrugging off
a whisper
of a cloud.
There is a garden;
a wooden folly
with a bell-tower;
a stable
with a hay-loft...
rafters – in the shape
off an ‘x’ – decked
with forget-me-nots.
Your favourite,
ditzy, knitted
blue, Afghan hat
covers your ears
and still
it makes me smile.
It is sunset.
You are kneeling...
head bowed –
for all the world
as if you’re praying...
cupping
a fallen bird;
a wren
or a sparrow
in your hands.
You are that prayer,
this moment
this vivid...
and yet,
already
the picture
is fading.

A visitation borne from the spark between the deepest love imaginable and a longing so powerful that it trips the mind into actually being there. Even a distant reader cannot fail to be included in this dreamy landscape.

I think Richard got my feelings exactly on this
poem Tina, I couldn't have put it better myself.
It's so good to be able to see a time a place so
vividly, that we actually feel that we're there.
Very gentle and soothing to read.
Jenny.

Gosh Tina,
I admire you getting out in the garden in this
heat, all I want to do is be in the shade, though
it's a lot cooler today.
Hope you enjoyed your barbecue.
Jenny.

Hi Tina,
This may surprise you but my inspiration when commenting on work I see comes directly from and because of the power of the words I read, so, with that in mind, thank you for your way with words.
Richard
