Room Six

We take it in turns to sit
with her...the girl
in room six.
She stirs; I stroke
her hand...notice
out the window
how the moon
is moving on – ploughing
its way through clouds
to break the dark.
A heron lifts –
black-cloaked
as shadows drift
and I envy
her strong belief
that this is not the end
instead – a letting go;
no regression, no retreat.
She whose moods were fickle
as a passing summer storm,
and who taught me to see
the simple beauty
of sunlight through trees.

The quiet scene stands out
The quiet scene stands out against the description of - life going on - outside the window, while inside, we learn so much more about 'the girl in room six' through the love and admiration for her lessons in the appreciation of beauty. - ('simply' - not sure, but should that be, simple beauty?) At the end of the piece, there is a feeling of calm which seems to come from her own beliefs.
I found this poem very peaceful and meditative.

Hi Tina, I agree with Bee,
Hi Tina, I agree with Bee, a calming poem of letting go. Also spiritual in that last stanza, which I found beautiful. Jenny.
