Though far away, my dearest love,
I must see thee, one last time...
so God above, please heed my prayer,
and in dreams, our souls unite.
Though far away, my dearest love,
though the darkling clouds bode rain,
I shall feel thy body next to mine,
as December turns to May.
Through far away, my dearest love,
though it freezes – ten below,
we both shall roll in pastures green
as through paradise we’ll roam.
Though far away, my dearest love,
though the sky be full with snow...
on zephyr’s wings you’ll come to me,
and a warm wind, through me, blow...
Though far away, my dearest love,
though the air grows black with smoke,
tomorrow, when the battle’s won,
it will carry thee back home.

Hi Tina,
I almost felt a song coming on as I read this, for
me this poem could well be lyrics to a piece of
music, whether it be folk or country, it was
incredibly moving to read.
Thankyou so much for sharing this one.
Jenny.
