Think it's 'atypical'

Part 2. Marvellous finish

The strands all coming together and it is still well controlled - the reader feels confident that you have command of the plot! (Not always the case with thrillers).  Marc has a real depth of character - I like the way you present the loving father and the quite brutal operative together.  I found the scene in the bar disturbing, because Marc is such a sympathetic character, but of course in his line of work he would have to be be brutal.

thanks again AF for great comments - - - it's very encouraging that you feel I'm in control because that's been one of the biggest challenges, especially to sustain the pace and tension in the plot as well as enough connection with the history.  As I said before I hope you continue enjoying and believing it, because obviously the toughest hurdle is to hit climax and control together without resorting to a Poirot-style "now let me explain - - " routine!  simon

I know exaclty what you mean - I've been struggling with a similar problem in one of my own pieces, and only when I finished it did I realise that yes, the ghost of Poirot was nodding affably at me from the page.  Still, that's what rewrites are for...
