This artist with nimble touch

paints a pigment language,

brush strokes in vivid richness

blended...embellished essence,

 

gentle curves passing,

features embracing colour,

rainy days capture movement

merging into trippy tones,

 

traversing folk shape shift

tracing today into tomorrow,

silent souls cemented in time...

fragments of imagination.

I particularly liked the line 'tracing today into tomorrow' which is what the artist does leaving his art to posterity.

Reading your poem, I imagined blurred, watery brush strokes on canvas - rain washed with colorful, undefined images bleeding into the landscape. I have a favorite painting that has that dappled rainy day feel to it and your words brought the art into focus. Thank you Jenny for this lovely poem - so glad you shared it.smiley

It is good to read a new poem by you, I hope you are feeling better now the weather is cooling a bit?

"pigment language" is a great way to describe a picture! My partner suddenly started painting again today, after not wanting to for 2 years :0) Chak chack (jackdaw) was very excited and loved the noise he made when slooshing the brush in the water :0) He was worried she was going to snatch it!

Thanks for reading Hilary, I hope you are well. I've started painting after a long period of not picking up a brush. It was this picture that inspired me, so I thought I'd write a poem about it.

you know the thing I like about this painting is its simplicity, yet movement is relevant and changes as you keep looking, making it so interesting.

I'm happy you liked and I bet you get a lot of pleasure from your own painting. Art is such a beautiful subject to share with others.

Hello Di,

thank you for your concern. Yes I'm a lot better now and have managed to get some much needed walking done, even if it has only been around the streets. smiley We are going either to the Ridgeway or the forest tomorrow, so I'm really looking forward to that.

isn't that strange that your partner has taken up painting, because that's exactly what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks. It's such a pleasure to brush paint on canvas again, even if my paintings arn't that good. I'm no expert but if pleasure is there then that's all that matters.

I loved your comment about your partner, and his Jackdaw loving the slooshing sound the brush made in the water, I could just imagine the sense of wonder the bird was feeling at a new sound, they're very inquisitive birds arn't they?

I hope he gets as much pleasure as I have from painting. Thank you again for reading and sharing your thoughts, hope you are well too.

An artist is like a poet in colours. A poet is like a mathematician a musician or a painter a maker of patterns. Telling a story in shapes and colours sounds and meanings nuances repetions and notes, sounds, pictures the same and in different forms. Words and brush strokes and truths all of this and all in a beautiful joy.

What a lovely comment Nolan, everything you say is so true. Like you say even a painting can tell a story from the artists imagination, to also using our own thoughts as to what is seen. I just love art that makes you think and isn't always what it seems.
