Bicycle Ride For Two

You're my freethinking
companion
on our bicycle
made for two,
with zeal you oil breaks
and chains
while I read
manual,
attraction came
so easy
you lubricate
my life,
every trickle
loosens heart strings
we always
work out right.
Our confidence
is childlike
peddling
so fast,
tumbledown trails
descending
shadows
in our tracks,
legs showing blue
cotton shorts,
seeking adventure
those dreamy sorts,
view distant hills
space in between,
sensory breathtaking
romantic scene,
Blustery gales
left far behind
now gives a
clear mind,
on coastal bluff
we comprehend,
our destination is
Lands End.

I had never ridden a bike,
I had never ridden a bike, due, I think to complications of where we were living at the relevant time of youth, but my husband got a tandem (not many years ago) and I remember realising that he who oiled the brakes etc had far more strength and experience and I wasn't 'pulling my weight' - at first my feet on the pedals seemed to being pushed around! and it felt like being on a roller coaster as I couldn't see what was approaching! but being so close to the scenery was lovely.
