Drifting On The Muse

Showery and cool the day,
yet behind closed doors
I weave a web of memories,
that dance and quiver to
unforgettable tunes
lifting my spirit,
brimming over with
faint sounds of nature,
reminiscence of
untamed routes taken,
where spiny of
thorny guardians
mesh ferns,
content to
keep me at bay,
I imagine their laughter
only nature understands,
as new life germinates
keeping me at bay on the
straight and narrow way.
My self welcomes
echoes of wood or forest,
where trees charm visitors
in summer's dappled shade.
At present time languid winter's
garden limbs gently prosper
with pulse of earth,
responding serenely
to the promise of spring's
soft tones of blossom,
would those petals hold on
a little longer so I could
take in their colour,
looking to hear whisper of new life,
as birds and bees go about
daily tasks. Personally I would
greet chortle of laughing
green woodpecker
with its reddish flushed crown,
as it searches for larvae of
wood-boring beetle,
a tasty morsel to have found.
But for now it's cosy drifting
on raindrops splashing down
my windowpane, listening to
Swaddling Songs of
Mellow Candle,
which takes me back
to days of Pentangle,
those mellifluous
songs of my youth.

Oh yes, 'Light Flight'? I had forgotten all about them! :-)

Yes, the promise of Spring
Yes, the promise of Spring just around the corner. A nice reminder.

"Showery and cool the day" is
"Showery and cool the day" is musical as a song itself!
and I liked the repetition of V sounds in "quiver" and "over"
"untamed routes" made me think of a cowboy at a rodeo seeing how long they can stay on :0)
"gently prosper" is WONDERFUL description of plants in a well tended garden
"But for now it's cosy drifting
on raindrops splashing down"
I like this part very much too, "cosy drifting" is perfect, and "ow" sound of "now" and "down" joining inside and outside.
I don't know the records you write about, but I enjoyed very much your word music!

Beautiful and serene
Beautiful and serene, Jenny. Another good one. Perhaps you didn't intend serenity, but I usually get that from your nature descriptions.

Take Three Girls
My unreliable memory tells me that 'Light Flight' was the theme tune to the 1960s TV series 'Take Three Girls', Jenny?

Hi
Hi
I think this is lovely. I like the idea of the trees charming the visitors.
