Good Friday Treat

Friday 2nd April 2021
Sweet tease of cravings, good day for
digressing from diets; this fine fresh
dough that with clenched fists kneading
avidly, has Good Friday's eager palate
come to the crossroads of iced topping,
into oven where aromas burst fourth,
rising – expanding, comfort of sticky
coating shining brown; then toasted
and buttered, rich and fruity to taste;
leaving an expression of fulfillment,
salivating no more.

What a happy poem, full of
What a happy poem, full of energy and achievement :0) You really caught how it feels, both the kneading beat at the beginning, and the happiness when the outcome is wonderful as hoped for

Hi Jenny,
Hi Jenny,
Had mine this morning but I bet your home made ones were a real treat. In the poem I could almost taste the freshness!
Happy Easter Hilary

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
I'm not sure we had hot cross buns in America. But I do like them, although I have never made them myself. But we did make bread and rolls at home, and I remember feeling ever so proud when my mother told me my rolls were more nicely shaped than my older sisters. She did better than me in almost everything, so it was nice to have something I could do better.
