Lost Souls

I wept in the ruins
of unheard whispers,
as savage gales swept
across vacant landscape,
challenging the hesitant observers,
woefully...the death knell rings out..
reclaiming its kindred,
body weak...succumbs to
silhouette shapes,
now inhabiting this
complex network
that is me.
As night draws in,
feelings of loneliness
residing round every corner,
the tumbledown – ramshackle buildings,
weep for the men and women
who perished,
like ghosts...souls
move in white waves
of dust,
anointing the earth
with their tears.

Jenny, I like the shape too,
Jenny, I like the shape too, weaving in and out. And the anointing at the end. It paints a clear and haunting picture. Would love to know what event you're writing about or is it imaginary? Well, on the anniversary of the Battle of the Battle of Hastings I'm going to remember the fallen!

The shape of this gives it
The shape of this gives it another layer entirely, Jenny. Your ghostly images, full of white nostalgia, really come to life against that column shape. Splendid.
