Moon Flower

Bitter Winter lingers
taking center stage,
undaunted by
birth of Spring,
passive roots sleep now
find comfort in rest,
solace couched beneath earth
of fine nourished loam,
transition soon switches
leaping into Summer,
orgy of weeds surface
pretentious ramblers,
spurning well ordered beds
snaking unperturbed,
shooting up between
well groomed heads,
If left neglected
tumbledown confusion,
but if like me you don't mind disorder
let flora have its day.

I enjoy the wildflower or
I enjoy the wildflower or weed medley, too, Jenny, though sometimes the weeds have their day and have to be hauled out for new ones to grow!
in verse 2 passive routes sleep now I wondered if you meant the 'roots' of the plants?
I enjoyed the reminder that that rich growth will soon surge out. Rhiannon

From Winter...
From Winter to Spring eventually to Summer. The transition between seasons are magical as you have shown in this lovely poem. Written well Jennifer, for your love of nature is rich and i'm sure your minds eye as plenty more stories to tell which I look forward to reading. X

It's not weeds in your garden
It's not weeds in your garden it's a wildflower meadow, helping local biodiversity. I agree with you, much rather see plants busy with insects and birds rather than in plastic appearing perfection! Even though they are often so tough, there's a delicacy to wildflowers which I love. Near us in the Summer there's patch of bindweed with willowherb growing through and it's lovely. Bindweed always looks so exotic, when I was little I secretly brought some home and planted it in my Dad's vegetable garden as a lovely surprise for him. Fortunately he noticed before it had settled in. He was a very patient and hard put upon Dad :0)
