Sparrow Hawk pecking at your prey,
as darkness comes upon this day,
come close if you dare,
for feathers are flying everywhere.
A meal this Hawk will eat tonight,
then off again he will take flight.

This has reminded me Jenny
This has reminded me Jenny of incident I'd completely forgotten about when a Sparrowhawk chased a sparrow into our sunroom. Sparrow survived (a bit wonky) but I had to pick up the hawk using the curtain and help it through the window, beautiful close up - might try to turn this into something, thanks for inspiration. :-)

Much enjoyed your poem, Jennifer;-)
It also reminded me of a very recent occasion when a sparrow hawk flew into my kitchen window. I heard the bang and on closer inspection, the sparrow hawk was on the ground with a young partridge beneath its chest. On seeing me, it flew, almost along the ground to the side of the garage and all that was left when I went out to investigate were some rather bedraggled partridge feathers. That's nature, as you say, but I did find it quite upsetting.

Hello Jennifer, you capture the kick in the sparrow hawk, a predator, brave, unflinching and focused. He is satisfied, for now. RLP
