Night Creatures

Imagine! If you will walls of rock
Silhouettes roused from sleeping,
Attentive, downward swooping,
How curious strange screeching,
Hanging in abandoned world
Then out of mouth flying high,
Senses heightened...air so still
Sun sets low over valley and hill,
Bodies now committed hurry on
Weave between limbs so strong,
Exploding into curtain of darkness
Catching insects on horizon's breath,
I too would like to trip this night
Lifting head to exciting heights,
Understand...feel stark empathy
With these creatures on the wing.
Trigger in motion imagination,
Activate my mind to anticipate
Sound waves of a different kind;
A journey about courage and faith,
I've dared boldness writing verses
Drifting from one poem to another,
Attacked by hazy shadows closing in
Leaving words to come out all wrong,
At night pen will fly across blank page
In sink with darkness and candlelight,
When instinct glows brighter like our
Night friend the bat by full moonlight.

I love those lines too! Also
I love those lines too! Also love the thought of a page being like the night sky and your thoughts being like moths your pen is trying to catch! You find such magic in the idea of writing!
