Pause For Thought!

A poem for International Fairy Day.
24th June 2013.
Once more with childhood
memories I chanced a fairy ring,
I remained wide eyed and
restless as a Summer breeze,
with willing heart I waited
amongst wild flowers anticipated,
I gazed as flickering sunlight sparkled
through the boughs of woodland trees,
attentive to sweet bird song
I lingered in the fairy realm,
where memories of magic
remain all Summer long,
spellbound observing spider's
silky network that she weaves,
as droplets graceful as morning
dew...shimmering for me to view,
when suddenly between long
grass a willowy figure did
appear...I stared at her in wonder
her wings of fine gossamer,
for a moment we were hypnotised
as we gazed into each others eyes,
would you come entrance me now
if the winged ones would allow?
But you were just out of reach
upon this day your vow to keep,
that no one that lived in fairy land
would be touched by human hand.
