RED DEER'S- CHILDRENS ADVENTURE CONTINUES, PART SEVEN.

That very same morning that Red Deer had managed to
get his feather, it was all quiet back at the camp.
Two Feathers was tossing and turning, he'd had a
very restless night.
The Sun had only just peeped over the horizon, when
he turned to his wife. Nudging her, he informed her
that he could not sleep any longer and so was off to search for Red Deer. "I will ride Swift as Wind," he said, "I will return with the boy."
Amadahy turned to her husband still sleepy and not
quite awake. "I will wait your return and have food ready for you and the boy."
Two Feather's kissed Amadahy, then stood up.
Getting dressed, he wondered if Red Deer was still
alive, 'it would be so sad...if he had to bring the
boy back dead,' he thought to himself.
He wanted to warm some water up, but because someone had broken into their lodge the night before and put the fire out, he shivered with
annoyance. He took some of the corn bread his wife
had baked, then made his way out of the lodge.
There was a chill in the air, as the Sun started to
rise in the sky. He took a bite of the corn bread,
as he sauntered down to the river.
After relieving himself, he took a drink from the
cool clear river water, then he threw some water
over his face, it was cold but welcoming.
He noticed in the ripples of the water, the reflection of a bird, he immediately looked up,
there above him flew a giant Eagle, it circled
above Two Feathers, then flew off.
For a moment he felt Red Deer close, but then the
moment disappeared, he put the thought to one side,
finishing off the corn bread, he made his way over
to where Swift as Wind stood.
Two Feathers noticed that the horse seemed agitated. "What is it boy?" The horse whinnied, as
Two Feathers untied him. He looked at the horse's
leg, it seemed to be healing well, 'almost as good
as new,' he thought.
He spoke gently to the horse, but first he blew
ever so gently into Swift as Wind's nostrils, again
the horse whinnied. "We go look for Red Deer," he
told the horse.
At the mention of Red Deer's name, Swift as Wind
reared up. "Steady boy!" Two Feathers grabbed the
rope, he could tell the horse was distressed, so
quickly he mounted. It was as if the horse had a
mind of his own, feeling a rider on his back, he
quickly turned and without an order, he galloped
away following the scent of his master.
